The Lake Maitland House in Winter Park, Florida is designed to respond to the clients’ request for a “Barefoot” house or one that invites a casual lifestyle for a family of four. Priority was to be given to views of the lake upon which the homesite is situated. The resulting 4,100 sq. ft. home also includes a separate remodeled Guest House, Swimming Pool, and Boathouse.
The Craftsman Style is chosen for its welcoming warmth that owes much to human scaled elements including siding, trim and details with interesting patterns. Among these are the foursquare “clouds” that adorn columns and posts. Together with generously-scaled door, window, base and crown trim that exemplify the style, a comfortable sense of place is set.
The project was awarded “Home of the Year” honors by Orlando Leisure magazine.
